Dr. Sheera Hefter is a Certified School Psychologist and Licensed Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, currently working in the Boston Public Schools (BPS). With a background as a former classroom teacher, Dr. Hefter specializes in systems work and the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support at the elementary and middle school levels, alongside the traditional responsibilities of intervention, assessment, and special education service delivery. Her expertise extends to working with students with intensive disabilities and complex health needs and she supports families applying for legal guardianship for their adult children. Sheera is an Orton-Gillingham trained reading interventionist with a specialty in working with older readers with emotional and behavioral challenges.  Sheera’s commitment to school psychology and evidence-based practice extends to her role as co-director of the BPS School Psychology Doctoral Internship program, where university students are guided by an emphasis on identity and cultural awareness, prevention, assessment, and data-based decision-making. Her research has focused on fidelity of implementation of behavioral interventions, teacher consultation, and the application of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports to after-school settings.
