Kathleen Airhart, EdD, serves as senior advisor for Summer Learning and the lead for the ASES collaborative (Assessment, Standards, and Education of Students with Disabilities) for the Council of Chief State School Officers. She assists in implementation of key elements of the strategic plan and state recovery initiatives. Kathleen brings with her many years of educational experience, including working at the Tennessee Department of Education (TDE) as a Deputy Commissioner, Chief Operating Officer, and Interim Superintendent for the Achievement School District. Prior to her time at the TDE, Kathleen served as a superintendent of schools in Tennessee and was named Tennessee Superintendent of the Year (2011). She began her public education career as a special education high school classroom teacher and special education supervisor.
