One of four professional learning modules developed by PROGRESS Center’s Tessie Bailey, Sara Evans, and Katie McClintic for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Public School System was featured in a Marianas Variety article. Consistent with findings from the PROGRESS Center's Beating the Odds report, which highlights the importance of building educator, family, and stakeholder capacity to support effective implementation of special education practices, the module was designed to strengthen participants' understanding of CNMI's new individualized education program (IEP) process and the role each component plays in supporting positive outcomes for students with disabilities. Through the training, 80 teachers, parents, and community members developed a shared understanding of the purpose and components of a high-quality IEP, increasing their capacity to support effective planning, collaboration, and service delivery for students with disabilities.

Preview the new Overview of an IEP module and discover how it can help participants build knowledge and awareness on how to improve services for students with disabilities in the CMNI.
