By translating our IEP Tip Sheets into Spanish, the PROGRESS Center hoped to increase access to important information to more educators and families of students with disabilities.
Dr. Kat Pfannenstiel, a technical assistance provider at our partner center the National Center for Systemic Improvement, helped make this goal a reality. Dr. Pfannenstiel used the translated tip sheets in multiple trainings throughout 2024 in Puerto Rico. These trainings served Puerto Rico Department of Education (PRDE) staff and regional center staff. Training session topics included:
- Educational Benefit Review Process
- Use of Data: Teaming, Eligibility, and IEP Writing
- Writing Measurable Goals and Objectives
“[PDRE and regional center staff] were very excited and liked that the tip sheets were short and could be shared with parents and teachers!” Dr. Pfannenstiel said.
