True family engagement occurs when families of students with disabilities are valued, active, and meaningful partners in the development and implementation of their child’s instructional programming. IDEA requires parent participation [Sec 300.322] in many aspects of the education of their child with a disability. This includes ensuring that parents are present at each IEP Team meeting and are afforded opportunities for meaningful participation. This collection of resources includes information for educators and leaders related to engaging parents in the IEP process and resources for families to support their engagement in the IEP process.
