This short activity helps participants understand how to quickly describe the impact of the disability and the student’s needs that will be included in the present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP) statement. This activity can help ensure meaningful participation of all team members in the IEP development. It can be especially helpful to use with families as they share their deep knowledge of their child’s needs and strengths. This activity provides time for small groups to work together as well as time for group reflection and discussion. It is expected to take between 18-20 minutes.
The activity facilitator guide provides an overview of the activity, materials needed, a suggested structure for the activity, and key ideas to reinforce within the activity.
